ABOUT US

KI Energy, LLC. is a subsidiary of an Alaska Native Corporation based in Wasilla Alaska. Alaska has the highest energy costs in the continental United States. KI Energy’s goal is to lower those costs by bringing Combined Heat and Power ( CHP) systems and energy storage to all of Alaska.

CHP systems allow a building owner to use the natural gas currently used for heat and hot water to also generate electricity, reducing costs and increasing the efficiency of their energy systems. Combined with energy storage, the cost of electricity and heat can be reduced in excess of 40%. Additionally, having onsite generation provides resiliency in the event of power outages.

Working together, KI Energy and YANMAR bring Alaskans a globally tested and proven CHP technology. With additional systems coming online, KI Energy is positioned to document for the entire state, that Alaska is on its way to becoming a national leader in CHP energy savings, with less reliance on the utility grid.

Our Projects

KI Energy and Yanmar have teamed together to be Alaska’s leader in CHP energy solutions.

YANMAR’s Combined Heat and Power system uses an internal combustion engine, powered by clean natural gas or propane, to produce both heat and electric power. The unit efficiently utilizes up to 88% of the fuel burn versus 33% burn rate of conventional, from-the-grid sources.
